From Startup to 5G SA Test Calls and Pre-Commercial FWA launch in Just 9 Months
Barcelona, 6 March 2025 – Qvantel, a leader in BSS, today announced a significant milestone in their partnership with Perfectum and Nokia. Uzbekistani, mobile operator Perfectum has, in the space of just 9 months, gone from a startup to making test calls and Pre-Commercial FWA launch on their 5G SA network. The Perfectum 5G SA services will be available to 50% of the country’s 37 million population in 2025 and in 2 years will be available in all regions of Uzbekistan.
Qvantel and Nokia have supplied their joint Digital Monetization Solution to Perfectum, and Nokia have supplied the 5G SA network and associated systems.
“We started 5G SA from scratch and are a classic startup”, said Dmitry Shukov, CEO of Perfectum. “The contract for the supply, installation and launch of equipment for the 5G SA network was signed in April 2024 and just 9 months later, we are talking about the practical launch of the 5G SA network in a country with a population of 37 million people and a territory of half a million square kilometres. The teams in Perfectum, Nokia and Qvantel are working together as one and achieving amazing results. As well as providing 5G SA mobile services we will roll out fixed wireless access to provide ultra-high-speed home and business broadband services, which will accelerate the digital transformation of Uzbekistan”.
“To go from a startup to having a practical launch of a 5G SA network in just 9 months is testimony to the vision, skill and dedication of the teams in Perfectum, Qvantel and Nokia,” said Varun Galande, CCO of Qvantel.
“This implementation is a blueprint for a fast-track 5G SA rollout. Perfectum has rapidly built the foundation that is enabling the delivery of new network services in a multi-cloud environment, a key pillar of Nokia’s 5G Core strategy, while doing so quickly, securely, and at scale. We look forward to working with our partners, Perfectum and Qvantel, to drive new revenue opportunities and long-term growth,” said Erez Sverdlov, Vice President, Cloud and Network Services Market Leader for Europe at Nokia.
